Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 32

Dear Sir.

My main interest and problem is:

I have a very old application writed in Clipper 5.01
This environment access directly the parallel port for printing. But, today this physical device, there is not present anymore in a lot of machines.
So, I tried alternatives.
The main problem: Clipper 5.01 run under DOS and don't make calls to printer server of Windows, so, to "capture" the parallel port and "re-direct" to USB port, the DOS don't answer to Clipper as Clipper spects, so I take a I/O error, no matter how this interception occurs.
I have 1 but 4 possibilities:
1-Re-Write all the application for Windows. or,
2-Change, compiling in FoxPro, or Visual-Objects, or xHarbour, or
3-Find a Library that override this behavior and link-edit the system for to use the Printer Service of the Windows and dont make direct calls to the parallel port and to interface directly with Windows for printing, or
4-Write a specific device driver. (out of question, due lack of knowledge for to go so far)
Capturing the port and re-directing to another, up to now don't work as desired. Ok for others things, but with this one applictation done with Clipper 5.01 seems to me that must be another way.
And I am looking for the fastest, and cheaper solution, of course ...
Anyway, for all other tests that I made, Dos2Usb runs fine, but this Clipper 5.01 (ok! it is realy very very old...) application.

Thanks in advance

Mauro.

mpclobo@ig.com.br

You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead in /backup/qa/www/sub/rss/product.php on line 46

The program downlaoded and installed quickly and without a hitch. Though I haven't yet given it a full run, my initial testing shows it to be easy to use and effective. It has given new lease to a program I wrote in GWBASIC years ago, which I thought I'd have to abandon because I could not print on my USB printers. It appears that my problem has been solved by DOS2USB.
